Wayne Bloomster

Wayne Eric Bloomster passed away in Chicago on January 29, 2024.

Wayne was born December 17, 1953 in Richland. He was the first of five children of Clarence and Betty Bloomster. Wayne attended Jason Lee Elementary, Chief Joseph Junior High, and Columbia High School in Richland, graduating in 1972. After two years at Columbia Basin College, he continued his education in Ellensburg at Central Washington University where he graduated in 1976 with a degree in Sociology.

He moved to Chicago in 1981. He enjoyed the lively big city life in Chicago and lived there the rest of his life. He became a fan of Chicago sports and rooted for the Chicago Bulls, Bears, and Cubs. He was an active participant in many Church activities. In addition, Wayne was a life-long learner who was curious about many subjects, always eager to discuss ideas with others. In spite of living so far away, he remained quite interested in Washington local news, sports, and politics.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mathew Bloomster (HHS); and brother-in-law, Greg Demeritt.

Wayne is survived by his siblings: Keith ('74RHS/HHS) (Kathy) Bloomster, Janet Demeritt (HHS), and Tim (HHS) (Eva) Bloomster; and nephew, Kyle Bloomster.

He had a kind and generous spirit and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Shalom United Church of Christ in Richland.
