DARVI LEE MARKFELDER HULL ~ Class of 1972
September 10, 1954 - July 28, 2000

Darvi Markfelder

Darvi Lee Markfelder Hull of Kennewick passed away Friday, July 28, 2000, at Kadlec Hospital in Richland at the age of 45.

Darvi was diagnosed with a recurrence of a rare form of colon cancer earlier this year after being cancer-free for seven years. She fought a courageous battle and never lost her optimistic outlook and hope.

She was born on September 10, 1954, in Richland to Boyd and June Markfelder and lived in the Tri-Cities all of her life except for three years in Maryland.

Darvi graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1972.

Her employment included bartending and waitressing; she later moved into secretarial work at Hanford, where she spent most of her career. She most recently enjoyed working part time at Hastings Books.

Darvi was a kind, caring and graceful person who always had a gentle word for everyone. Even during her illness, she always put others before herself. Her husband, Todd, and immediate family were by her side throughout her struggle.

A special thanks goes to Pastor Pat Harvey of Westside Presbyterian Church for spiritual support and comfort.

Darvi loved sailing, ceramics and numerous other crafts, collecting friendly dragons and raising roses. Her menagerie of pets included three Yorkshire Terriers, three cats, two turtles, two parakeets, a hedgehog, a toad and occasional other creatures she could persuade her husband she should be allowed.

She especially loved spending time with her husband and daughter, Hilary. She loved them with all of her heart.

Darvi is survived by Todd, her husband of 14 years; and Hilary, their nine-year old daughter, of Kennewick; father, Boyd "Bud" Markfelder of Richland; sister, Jan Markfelder Clayton ('71) (Dennis) of Richland; brother, Bruce Markfelder ('74) of Richland; her in-laws, Robert and Joanne Hull of College Place, WA; brother-in-law, Kevin Hull (Karen) of Richland; sister-in-law, Lisa Bullington (Tom) of Elma, WA; sister-in-law, Julie Johnsen (Gary) of Central Point, OR; sister-in-law, Erin Connelly (Todd) of Sandy, OR; sister-in-law, Alison Norling (Jim) of Portland, OR; eight nephews and six nieces.

Her mother, June Markfelder, preceded her in death.

A memorial service to celebrate her life was held at 3pm on Tuesday, August 1, 2000, at the Cathedral of Joy located at 1153 Gage Blvd. in Richland. Pastors Marty Armstrong and Dale White officiated.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to Hillary Hull Educational Fund c/o GESA Credit Union in Richland or the Tri-Cities Chapter of American Cancer Society.
