Rocky Semmern ~ recent

Rocky passed away peacefully at Kadlec Medical Center on March 1, 2013, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born April 25, 1953 in Richland to Donald and Marie Semmern.

He went to school in Richland all of his life and graduated from Richland's Columbia High School in 1972. Rocky joined the U. S. Army in 1972 and was honorably discharged in May 1978. After returning from the Army, he worked as a carpenter out in the area, retiring after 28 years.

Rocky's greatest enjoyment came from spending time with his loving daughter, Amy; her husband; and his amazing grandkids. Rocky was most proud of the woman his daughter became and the unconditional love she showed him without limitations or conditions.

He was a devoted member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his father, Donald Semmern Sr; his sister, Cindy Semmern VanWyck ('70); his brother-in-law, Jim VanWyck ('66) ; daughter, Amy (Neil) Schroeder; grandsons: Laiten, Landen and Luke; nieces: Julee (Jayson) and Crissa.

He is preceded in death by his caring mother, Marie Semmern, who passed away March 3, 2005; best friend and brother, Steve Semmern ('74); and beautiful niece, Sami Semmern ('02).

Graveside services were held March 9, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Richland. Funeral services immediately followed at Redeemer Lutheran Church. A reception followed at the Sports Page in Kennewick.

The family would like to thank James, Carolyn and the staff in the ICU at Kadlec and Dr. Zander for his exceptional care.
